The initiative started when Anand Sahu, navigating the international PhD system from India, persisted through university websites and research publications to win multiple fully-funded PhD offers (Boston University, Washington State University, NYU Shanghai, and a university in the Czech Republic) before joining Boston University (USA) in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. In 2023, Anand and Pawan Kumar began mentoring aspiring scholars who lacked a roadmap, with Pawan engineering EduSail Abroad's technology ecosystem and operational foundation from scratch.
Anand, who is also a winner of the Merck Innovation Cup 2026 in Germany (AI agent category; 42 participants from 18 countries), personally leads the academic direction of every scholar's application. Through our academic advisor network he is joined by Dr. Sonam Chorol (Post-Doctoral Fellow, University of Barcelona), who weighed a similar set of international offers before choosing her own path.
A fully-funded PhD program covers tuition fees completely and provides a monthly stipend or research salary for living expenses (roughly ₹1–4 lakh a month depending on the country and program), allowing you to pursue your doctorate without financial burden.
For a fully-funded PhD, the typical profile is:
- A master's degree in a related field (the USA and Canada also admit strong 4-year bachelor's graduates directly)
- A consistent academic record; a first-class or 7.0+ CGPA helps, but research fit outweighs marks
- Some research exposure: a thesis, project, internship, or publication
- English proficiency (IELTS or TOEFL), unless your degree was taught in English and the university waives it

Most universities require an English test like IELTS or TOEFL, typically 6.5–7.0 IELTS or the TOEFL equivalent, though many waive it if your previous degree was taught in English. The GRE is a different story: UK universities do not use it, it is almost never required in Germany, Switzerland, or Australia, it is optional at most Singapore departments (NUS and NTU accept GATE from Indian applicants), and many US STEM programs have dropped it or made it optional.

To start, you pay a one-time commitment fee based on your verified score: ₹15,000 (score 90+), ₹20,000 (score 80–89), or the standard ₹25,000 (plus 18% GST). This covers your detailed profile assessment and personalized supervisor shortlisting, backed by our 7-day delivery guarantee. The success fee (equal to one month of your stipend) is payable only after results: 30% once you hold a funded offer letter and the remaining 70% after your visa is approved. No funded offer, no success fee. All fees are confirmed in writing before any payment.
A funded PhD cycle is longer than a taught master's because a supervisor has to say yes before the university does. Typically:
- Months 1–2: profile assessment, research proposal, supervisor shortlist
- Months 2–5: supervisor outreach and follow-ups, English test if needed
- Months 4–8: formal applications and funding nominations
- Months 8–12: decisions, offer comparison, visa
Plan 9–12 months ahead of your target intake, and 14–18 months for a US Fall intake, where deadlines fall in December of the previous year.
Yes! Final-year students can apply for upcoming intakes. We help you use your current transcripts and provisional documents to start early.
